Hello everyone!

My situation is the following:
Recently I've got admitted to my target programs (INSEAD & LBS). My employer (MBB) agreed to sponsor my studies. I generally enjoy consulting and do not actively looking into changing the industry even though open to it.

My concern: my mid-term goal is to move to another country (Europe/Canada/Australia, not seriously considering US at this point) and I am afraid that by going to MBA I am actually postponing it without (as it seems) adding much value. Options that (I believe) I have in front of me:

1. No MBA, try internal mobility (very unclear in terms of timing)
2. No MBA, get new job
3. Do MBA, stay for two years with sponsor company in current location, do internal mobility (very unclear in terms of timing as well)
4. Do MBA, get new job after two years lock period

My question concerns option 4 - will getting MBA from INSEAD/LBS significantly increase my chances to move to target locations given that:
1. I will be applying two years after application
2. I will most likely apply for consult-ish positions and by the time of application I will have about 6 years in top-tier consulting which is a good prerequisite by itself (I hope) for this kind of job

Hi Ggrass hope this finds you well

I agree with the above response. It is quite a feat to get sponsored by MBB at LBS/INSEAD, congratulations!
INSEAD, given its shorter duration, will be over in a jiffy and set you up for several international opportunities. I have even seen MBB-sponsored folks negotiate buyouts from other companies in new geographies (interested employers can pay you to break your contract with MBB). Or you can wait some time and move out eventually. Both LBS and INSEAD have exceptional network across the globe which will help you in your quest. I am however more biased toward INSEAD, as I have experienced the strength of its alumni network.

Best wishes to you

I am really late to the game here.
Mobility is sometimes restricted/constricted by visas and going to school is one of the easiest ways to get a work permit for Europe (at INSEAD) or UK (at LBS). If you are heading for consulting, LBS one-year program makes perfect sense. You can relocate to a variety of places and get a jump in salary and position hopefully.

Good luck with the next steps!
P.S. You can always negotiate an exit and often MBB's will allow you to shift locations/countries after the MBA.
