Greetings everyone, I'm starting this discussion because I'm divided between which kind of MSc I should focus my applications on.
Having already majored in Finance on my Acc&Fin undergrad, I expect to already be familiar with some of the MiF curriculum, while a MiM curriculum with finance focused electives seems more appealing to me at a first glance.
But I would like some of the more experienced users to confirm or comment on the following:
-Are career prospects similar between the two? Is it possible, say, to work as an asset manager after a MiM, or at a top consulting firm after MiF?
Note that I'm not really obsessed with going to London the heavy finance jobs such as IB/PE(?) due to the dreadful 80 hour weeks I keep hearing about.
-What are career options that offer a decent W-L balance?
-Should my chances of being admitted be similar between the two? A lot of programs seem to favor applicants having the respective BSc as the MSc, which doesnt make sense since you're supposed to pursue a MSc for a related but different subject.
-Finally, can someone explain hat the deal is with the International Business Masters? They seem to be more highly ranked for Unis that offer both them and a MiM (with the MiMs often not being ranked at all). Still, looking at the curriculum they seem to me to offer "meme" courses with no applied value (no offense IB postgrads
). Are they in such high demand by firms?
