Hey Everyone!
Long-time lurker of this website/forum, and finally decided to make a post. After contemplating it for a long time, I have decided to look into post-graduate options. In particular, I have been looking into Masters in Management (will consider MBA after a few more years of experience) programs, with no particular location in mind - although, I would prefer Germany, France, Switzerland, etc. But really, not set on any location! (I'm a big traveler, so okay with anywhere in the world that offers a good program)
A little bit about me:
Nationality: Canadian, and have spent most of my life attending schools in Canada, therefore, exempt from the English proficiency tests
Undergraduate: Business Major, average of 73/100. Additionally, did an exchange semester abroad in Germany
GMAT: Haven't taken it yet, but having been doing practice tests, I am scoring around the 700s. My goal will be to get 680-700
Internship/Work experience: I did 3 internships (12 months) at a Big-4 accounting firm in a major city, and currently working at the firm, full-time. Therefore, including the 12 months of internship, I have about 24 months of experience
Post-grad goals: I want to go into management consulting, or as an associate in the tech industry
I know my undergraduate average is a short-coming compared to many others, but hopefully my exchange experience, internship/work experience, along with a (potential) high GMAT will make me a strong candidate. My questions:
1.) Which schools do you think are well suited for me?
2.) For those schools, how likely do you think it will be for me to get admitted?
3.) Any additional tips/advice you have in general
I appreciate it tremendously! Thanks a lot in advance!
Cheers
Hi
legendairy,
Your profile is pretty good and GPA is not as bad as you are estimating it. Ofcourse a 8.5+ would have helped but again not a deal-breaker.
You have international experience, good brands on your resume so those are good highlights.
Schools look for a holistic profile, so it would help if you mention your extra-curricular profile as well especially for Tier-1 schools like HEC, Duke, Michigan, IE .
Regarding your questions, Since you have not mentioned a specific country as such, here are some suggestions that
Dream - HEC Paris, Duke, Michigan Ross, Cambridge (30%-50% Selection Chances) - Best bet if you want to get into management consultancy
Competitive - ESCP,ESSEC, IE, RSM (50%-70% Selection Chances)
Safe - UT Dalls, Grenoble, Nova SBE (70%-80% Selection Chances)
Just make a note that consulting is a client side profile, so you should be up for learning a new language in case you get an admit to a top school of a non-English speaking country.
For more pointers on how to improve your profile, I would suggest you to take up a profile evaluation with us :
