Hi guys,
I'm a 29 yo applicant who is planning to study MIM at TUM and I've got a few questions that I'm sure you all will solve!
Am I too old to start a 2 years study in Germany? I'm a Brazilian Mechanical Engineer, which has already worked for GE, Deloitte, and TOTVS (a big Brazilian software company).
Is it possible to become a working student there during the Classes? Am I too old to hold a position like an intern or a working student in Companies during Master's Studies?

This programme, no matter what it says, is very German in its core; they couldn't even find a proper English speaker for the promo video. If you're interested in a career in Germany, then it might be a solid choice. You should always have in mind that for almost every job in Germany (with minor exceptions) you will need to speak at least intermediate German and that Munich is 1. expensive 2. not very international like Berlin or even Frankfurt. And as you're 31 years of age, I'm not sure you can live like a student anymore, you'll probably want to find a place of your own etc. In such a case, Munich is getting costly and with the same amount of money, you can do attend an 1-year programme in the Netherlands or even the UK despite the tuition fees.

Well, frankly speaking 29 years can be on the higher side for a MiM program, though there are no specific age criteria mentioned for most of the schools for the admission, but if we talk about the average age for MiM program, it is mostly around 23-25 years as the program is specifically targeted towards young graduate looking to enter the field of management and as per your current profile scenario the admission would solely depend upon the years of work experience you have right now.
As you have stated that you already have worked for GE, Deloitte, and TOTVS that can be a good point to mention in your profile but before applying for the same you have to make sure that your overall work experience should not be more than 2.5 years. TUM MiM program is targeted at students with 0-2.5 years of work experience at max looking to enter the field of management so more than 2.5 years of work ex. will put you at a disadvantage for a MiM program.
If your work experience is more than 2.5 year it would be ideal to go with specialized masters instead of MiM as that may be a good call. TUM itself offers some specialized courses such as Ms.c in Finance and Information Management, M.sc in Data Engineering and Analytics so you might check them out as well.
As for your query regarding working as a student there during the classes, don’t worry about it, as it won’t be an issue as such, as per the visa policies of Germany you can work part-time as a student during your post-graduation years and allowed to work for 30 hours per week. Your age factor doesn’t play a role here.
Though I would advise you to go for the field of Finance or business as you already have work experience in Deloitte and GE, it will help you make your profile stronger and further will act as an added advantage to get a job after your graduation.
TUM opens career opportunities all over the world, due to being a well-known name and having a good alumni network.
The average salary of $79,347 per year and if you are looking for a job in Germany itself then learning the German language a bit would widen up your opportunities to a great extent.
