Kabirk
Hello,
I am a 21 year old student who has completed undergrad . I am in a dilemma wether to consider MIM or Deferred MBA. From job prospects which is better? Salary wise, career wise. Deferred MBA is hard to get into, i am afraid that i don’t have the required profile, for eg. any head positions in college or in any clubs, I haven’t started anything of my own either. But i did alot of online courses. I did social work, I did a full time internship with a well known company and that’s pretty much it. I was diagnosed with a learning disability and a mental illness , but unfortunately did not get a certificate due to Covid and after that I thought that i do not require that stamp on my head. My GPA is like 3.0. I know things are so complicated. I was preparing for entrance exam for masters in a completely different field just to realise its not meant for me. Also if we talk about the tution, which is 140k , it is expensive, but manageable. I’d be done with MBA and get a job by 24 and just one year less with MIM. My other friends got admitted to Deferred MBA IV league B-schools and i feel left out. I don’t know which one to choose. I am new to all this. Please help.

Hi
Kabirk , you would not know what options you have unless you make a wholehearted effort to go through the application process for MIM or Deferred MBA. Consider whether you should apply for a deferred MBA at all when you can build your profile over the next 4-5 years and reconsider your B School preferences. If you are fixated on particular B School brands, consider whether or not cracking MiM is easier now vs an MBA from the same school 4-5 years down the line. Do you have a job in hand? If not then probably a good MiM admit can come as a blessing in disguise. Know your strengths and limitations and do not let peer pressure drive your thought process.
Take one step at a time and things will eventually fall in place. To begin with, get GMAT out of way if you have not already.
If you wish to discuss your strategy in detail we could get on a call this week.
Best wishes
