Hello,
I am a 21 year old student who has completed undergrad . I am in a dilemma wether to consider MIM or Deferred MBA. From job prospects which is better? Salary wise, career wise. Deferred MBA is hard to get into, i am afraid that i don’t have the required profile, for eg. any head positions in college or in any clubs, I haven’t started anything of my own either. But i did alot of online courses. I did social work, I did a full time internship with a well known company and that’s pretty much it. I was diagnosed with a learning disability and a mental illness , but unfortunately did not get a certificate due to Covid and after that I thought that i do not require that stamp on my head. My GPA is like 3.26. I know things are so complicated. I was preparing for entrance exam for masters in a completely different field just to realise its not meant for me. Also if we talk about the tution, which is 140k , it is expensive, but manageable. I’d be done with MBA and get a job by 24 and just one year less with MIM. My other friends got admitted to Deferred MBA IV league B-schools and i feel left out. I don’t know which one to choose. I am new to all this. Please help.

get into deferred MBA... MBA pays much more.. less workign hours.. and all the power and fun ...
You are very young... wait a few years and get some experience

unless you want to be a professor.. there is no use in taking MiM.... Even then MBA will be a better option.

Your best bet is to get a full-time job and accrue that valuable work experience. The MiM program could be interesting if you felt it would be relevant to your career, but it's not needed to jumpstart your career and it won't totally erase your undergraduate GPA performance as it relates to MBA admissions.

Do not worry about your friends getting into deferred MBA programs. That is a very selective group and it does not make a difference if you get in through the deferred method or you apply after you have worked for a few years. No one really knows who was deferred and not for the most part. You all get the same experience and graduate with the same degree! In their case, it's just nice to know you have the acceptance waiting...but that's all.
