Hi Dvch,

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. If you can answer a few questions, then we should be able to figure this out:

When you took your CATs:
1) On what dates did you take each of these CATs?
2) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each?
3) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
4) Did you take them at home?
5) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you took your Official GMAT?
6) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
7) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE (re: in an online forum or in a practice set)?

Well what I want to know is whether the level of quant and IR questions in actual GMAT higher than those in GMAT prep mocks. Also ,if you can guide me to improve my verbal score then it will be of great help.Have you ever heard of this kind of score drop?

Hi..I am an Indian male.I gave my GMAT yesterday and scored a miserable 640 with Q48 V30 IR 5.I just don't understand what happened.I gave around 10 mocks from Manhattan and GMAT prep and scored way higher.my scores were
1. Mgmat 660
2. Mgmat 660
3. Mgmat 670
4. Mgmat 680
5. Mgmat 690
6. Mgmat 690
7. GMAT prep 1 test 720
8. GMAT prep 2 test 680
9. GMAT prep 3 test( ep1) 710
10. GMAT prep 4 test(ep 1) 730

During my mock tests I did not see repeated questions. What baffles me more are my quant and IR scores.I never scored below Q50 in my GMAT prep exams
Also I never scored below 7 on IR.Are these sections on GMAT prep way easier than the actual GMAT. Someone please .help.Feeling miserable

Hi
It is a bit surprising since your lowest Gmatprep score is 680. I suggest to order an ESR to know about the sections in which you fared badly. Hope it will give some insight on the future course of action. I think you need to work on Verbal more rather than Quant, since V30 means you can get some easy points in Verbal. Out more effort into that.
Hope it helps.
