Just like the question...I have no CLEAR reasoning behind choosing C. :)

B I think has an unnecessary hyphen.
E is an obvious no.
C 'seemed' the best.

I need an explanation too!

my take - C
"sleep deprived" is quite a far fetched adj attached to people... "sleep" is modifying "deprive"

Missed this easy one earlier today

According to the National Institutes of Health, many of the sleep deprived people would benefit from a short nap during the day.

A. many of the sleep deprived people
B. most of the sleep-deprived people
C. many people who are sleep deprived
D. many sleep deprived people
E. many of the people who suffer from sleeping deprivation

I think its C

I have often seen that GMAT prefers to see who to refer to specific type of people

So I think who plays the restrictive part saying that many people who are sleep deprived would ....

so only those people who are sleep deprived would benefit.

No official explanation available, hence the reason why I posted the SC.

 Umm, I guess then I'll take D, I know I won't get a chance to change asnwers in the exam  but I guess D for conciseness and it preserves the meaning.

LITTLE SKEPTIC .... Shouldn't it be "sleep-deprived" in (D)
