MIT SLOAN 2008 WAITLIST

I just want to check whether anyone knows when MIT is going to make any movement re: waitlist?

One of the guys I know just got accepted from MIT a week or two ago. I am pretty sure he was on the wait list.

I'm on the waitlist for MIT, and when I called the admissions office they said that there would be much more activity starting next week. They have admit offers out until today and will know what their class currently looks like starting next week. So, hopefully some of us hear some things starting early next week.

I am on the waiting list as well. I went to visit MIT a few weeks ago and heard from someone in the admissions office that there will be much more activity starting this week. As already mentioned, the the deposit deadline extension was for this past Friday. Hopefully we get some good news.

What are you guys doing to get off the waiting list? I have sent a few updates and considered sending and additional rec. but eventually decided against it.

Hi nyrberg,

I have sent them update about my interest, my new start-up non-profit, supplemental essay, and also thinking about supplemental recommendation, but I am not sure yet. Other than that...... waiting on my luck.......
I figure that since I have not been interviewed, I might as well send them some information.
I am not sure if this is too much, but I do not want to holdback and regret....

Ya he said he deferred...not sure if he requested or they "suggested" it.

Collegesenior is a desi and as his screenname says he is graduating from college this year (I believe an IIT) so not only is he from a highly competitive demographic but has no work experience. That should give some hope.

Actually, IIT+0 years exp is more advantageous than IIT+5 years experience. :lol:

Has anyone heard of any waiting list activity. I was under the impression that WL activity was going to increase this week but I haven't seen any sign of it. Just wondering.

I do not think there will be any movement for the next two weeks.
I read on BW forum that the class is full, and the AdCom is just waiting until students pulling out of the MIT roster due to R3 decision from other schools.

It is a very disappointing week. I thought I am going to hear from them this week, even though only an update.

Any news? I can't find updates anywhere. In past years it seems that real movement started in early June. I am surprised that there has been practically no activity yet. Just hope that the rumors that the class is closed aren't true.
