MIT Sloan Fellowships - Traits that Enhance Your Odds of Admissions Success
Many candidates who are applying to the MIT Sloan Fellows Program are also applying to the Stanford MSx Program because they are seeking a full-time, one-year MBA experience in a program targeting seasoned professionals.
Everyone has heard of how important it is in Stanford admissions to demonstrate that you are committed to innovation and impact. Is this as important for admission to the MIT Sloan Fellows program?
From MIT representatives, you get a sense of what the school is looking for in a successful MIT Sloan Fellowships applicant. There is a minimum number of required work experience years. A qualified candidate for the MIT Sloan Fellows Program should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant, full-time post-undergraduate work experience (excluding internships). If you want to be competitive as an MIT Sloan fellowship candidate, you can consider providing a GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment exam score. However, candidates can submit an application without a test score, and they will be evaluated without any negative assumptions.
In addition, MIT indicates that successful MIT Sloan fellowship applicants demonstrate the drive and capability to lead an established organization or initiate a new venture. MIT wants successful applicants for an MIT Sloan fellowship to reflect a global perspective, and the program typically has students from over 30 countries (which is very notable given the small class size).
The MIT Sloan fellowship admissions committee is also looking for evidence of exceptional leadership abilities and a candidate’s desire to be an innovator in their field. MIT appreciates evidence of a candidate’s commitment to social impact. The school seeks to provide candidates with a year of self-reflection and professional growth, during which they become even more equipped to be effective, impactful pioneers.
