Update: The waitlist is pretty deep and will be so until 2nd round decision deadline (Mid May). However, don't despair this is the time to act. MIT Sloan welcomes additional material, visits to demonstrate resolve and enthusiasm. Just don't go overboard. I'm waiting for the exact numbers from someone I know, and then I hope I can provide detail.

Thank you Clark! I've sent 2 emails with updates over a period of 6 weeks, will keep fingers crossed.
I wish the interview was done already, WL-ed without interview feels weird.

Another waitlister here...

Has anyone received a response from the adcom yet on any of their updates? Any idea when we'll hear if they're going to the waitlist or not?

Waitlist activity should be happening next week because the deposit deadline has now passed.

To the other WLers on here, there was a post on BW made today re: the waitlist. As always, since it's BW take it with a grain of salt, but the poster claimed he was at a MIT info session last Thursday and the adcom said it was highly unlikely that they'd take anyone from the WL this year. Apparently they had received a record # of deposits this year even before the deadline.

Clark, any confirmation on this from your sources?

I think this is legit (don't see any reason for someone to make it up) and I'm personally not surprised given the crazy season MIT has had. I wonder though if this is an example of the increasingly popular practice of putting deposits down at multiple places? If that's the case I guess we may see spots opening up later on in the summer...by then, probably too late for me either way. :(

Yea, I too felt dejected reading that a min ago. Hope it's the case of multiple deposits and spots do open up later...thought for people with non-USA passports...time is running short :-(

Unfortunately, this practice does happen. Some people are willing to pay $3000 for the option. However, I will verify this information. I find it unlikely that no one won't matriculate.

It looks like spots in the class of 2011 are all spoken for, but there are a couple dozen people who are admits deciding between schools so movement on the waitlist really depends on them.

I remember them saying they were hoping to maintain about 75 ppl in WL by mid may (out of the 120+ they had)...so if ~20 spots open up tx to dual admits.... I just want to see the silver lining :-)

You and me both, Praz. :) Though the pessimist in me usually reigns supreme. If it's as bad as it sounds on the BW boards, I don't think they'll let anyone in. Although someone mentioned deferred admissions...hey now, that's an idea. In the waitlist chat, she did say that the year they let in no one from the waitlist, they accepted a few for the following year's class.

I really wish we heard something authoritative by now!

Thanks clark...looks like our worst fears have come true. Just curious, is the bit about the "couple dozen people" your own opinion or what MIT is expecting?

WL candidates: I am still around and continue to be WLed at both Sloan and Booth! Would be fantastic if I get into one.

clarksdv2, Thanks for your updates. Are there any latest developments at Sloan?

Still the same situation: all seats in 2011 MBA class are spoken for except for the few that either extended their deposit deadline or will walk away from the deposit for another opportunity. Sorry, I don't have better news.
