Welcome to GMAT Club.
You’re absolutely correct that basing one’s judgment and life choice based on that post from a complete stranger who just joined is likely bad overall. However, there are numerous current students and other very smart and educated people here with tons of reputation. You can judge ones reputation based on their post count as well as kudos count. You can also check their Verified test scores and if they are a part of the school. Number first and second year students comment on choices having a hindsight perspective. So, they’re not Frank’s or John Doe’s. They’re known individuals that people would not have otherwise have a chance to hear from.
On the other hand, if the comments are completely anonymous and random, then you never know if it’s a bored high school student or a Russian troll who’s posting them.
This topic is a bit dated and serves more of a historical data point rather than an active discussion 😉

If you base your decision on the postings from a bulletin board, you are not the type of person who should attend either school. Both schools are quantitative powerhouses. The sage advice from random strangers is quite a leap away from the analytical work you will perform in class at either University. Maybe you should estimate your future cash flow and determine your return on investment? Otherwise, "Fred's College of Knowledge" would suit you better.
