Hey,

Thanks for the help before!

I have now been offered a fellowship covering all tuition and some other expenses at Notre Dame. I am pretty sure I am going to take it, but it happened so fast that I am a little worried that I may have better opportunities if I wait until next year.

Any thoughts? Either on the Notre Dame program, or on my chances of getting a similar fellowship at other schools.

Thanks!

Weigh the pros and cons of fellowship and employment post-MBA.

Which one matters more? Is branding important to you? What type of management consulting companies are you looking to join?

A quick browse of the employment report of Notre Dame MBA 2009-2010 shows that no one in the class (full-time or internship for the two classes) made it to the top 3 MC firms (McKinsey, Bain, and BCG). My guess is that neither of three firms recruit actively on campus. Does this matter to you? Or are you willing to let go of the branding of MC firms and go for a 2nd-tier companies, such as Deloitte? The full scholarship is extremely enticing, but if your end-goal is to immediately have a shot at BCG, you may want to forgo the scholarship and aim higher in your list. You have the potential to get into one of the top b-schools that the top MC firms recruit at. It will really depend on your own interest. Some folks will take the full scholarship and run with it. Some will give up all money for a seat to be at Harvard Business School. Again, choice is going to be up to your own preference.
