Hi, can someone please help to explain the step-by-step instructions (in detail) in the simplest way and clear to understand.
10) Brand X sells 21 oz. bags of mixed nuts that
contain 29% peanuts. To make their
product they combine Brand A mixed nuts
which contain 35% peanuts and Brand B
mixed nuts which contain 25% peanuts.
How much of each do they need to use?

I might be wrong, but here's my explanation. Please post the OA numbers.
Let amount of Brand A = x
Let amount of Brand B = y
Equations we know:
\(x+y=21\) (1)
\(\frac{35}{100}x+\frac{25}{100}y=21*\frac{29}{100}\)
From this, canceling the 100 on the denominator on both sides, we get:
\(35x+25y=21*29\) (2)
We already know that \(x+y=21\)
So, now we have two equations, and two unknowns. Solving it by multiplying the (1) by 25 on both sides and subtracting (1) from (2)
\(35x+25y=21*29\)
\(25x+25y=21*25\)
We get, \(10x = 21*(29-25)\)
\(x = \frac{21*4}{10} = 8.4\)
Now that we know x, \(y=21-x=21-8.4=12.6\)
Note: I saw that you've posted multiple questions of the same type on the PS forum. I think it might be helpful and considerate if you waited for the reply to one question and learning how to apply the concepts to the other questions from that. It will give you more practice and will help you learn the strategies to learn a concept and apply it in multiple ways to different problems based on the same fundamental idea.
