Hi,
I was just curious if mock on official mba are true reflection of the gmat focused edition scoring? I'm told by some people that focused edition real-life are relatively tough and first few mock exams of official mba website may not reflect or assess your potential score. Some insights here would be helpful. My first mock score without any prep was 675 and I was happy but my score on mocks of
egmat (prep course I have taken) are very bad and makes me wonder
Hi. The official exams are always more accurate.
In terms of what you’re hearing, there’s always variance and a margin of error on the test itself. We’ve had people who took the test after two weeks and got 100 more points just being more composed and more focused. They did not study anything and they didn’t learn anything in those two weeks so it’s just the mindset change.
As the result, the same happens with the practice test. People take the practice test and get a high score and then they take the Jim Matt and they are stressed out naturally and they don’t get a high score and so they say that the test was not accurate.
I would say that you can trust GMAT prep more than any third-party test including
GMAT Club test tests just because they are official and the claim is that GMAT Prep uses the official algorithm.
So the bottom line, your scores will vary. Even the official scores and the official GMAT scores. But the official practice test provide the most trusted accuracy level. It’s hard to argue against.
PS. Yes some peoples scores fluctuate quite a bit but that’s more of a reflection of their experience than the test algorithm
