End of the story, today I've taken my first mock after the official exam and surprisingly I scored a 700 (V38, Q47) which is my goal score.
Now, whereas it could reasonably have been just a matter of luck, what I want to ask you is if it is worth to try another real exam right before the Christmas holiday, thereby in 2 days, or it is better to practice even more and take the exam in the next year.

When are your deadlines?

It could work well to take the GMAT in the next few days. However, I'm wondering whether you'll be able to retake if you do so or you're deadlines will be within the 16-day window making this your only shot.

Hi Marty,

first of all, it's such a pleasure that you answered me and I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to thank you since most of my improvements have been made by watching your videos on YT.
My last deadline to fall within the second round is on the 31st of January, but I would like to have my official score by the 15th at least.

HI alessandroscar,

Can you take another official practice test right way to determine if your latest score was a fluke?

If you are motivated and confident you can score well in a short turn around, perhaps going for an earlier exam may be good. You can think of next steps after you get your result and potentially retake next year if you aren't satisfied with your score.

All the best whatever you decide.

Hi Scott
I could, but only by resetting the first set of tests because the one that I took yesterday was the 6th. Alternatively, I might buy a set of tests from another source, although I don't know about the reliability.

Do you mean that you'd like to have taken the actual GMAT by the 15? It can take a couple weeks to get your "official score" after you take the GMAT.

Re: Mock result. [#permalink]
alessandroscar, you could try Manhattan Prep tests or the GMAT Club tests if you have exhausted all the official ones.
You could also reset some of the official practice tests that you had taken a long time ago.
