model A sold 3000 units and accounted for .6 of sales.
model B sold 1000 units and accounted for .4 of sales.
If A sold 1000 less than it actually did, what percent of sales would A have accounted for?

sales of A:
3000A = 0.6x
x = 5000A

sales of B:
1000B = 0.4x
x = 2500B

5000A = 2500B
A = 0.5B

Now:
sales of A = 2000A = 2000(0.5B) = 1000B
sales of B = 1000B
total sales = 2000B
so the % of A's sales = 1000B/2000B = 50%
