This is a SC Butler Question

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Most small companies in developing countries have little money and employees.

A. Most small companies in developing countries have little money and employees

Incorrect.

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. The article little can describe only non-count nouns and employees is a count noun.

What helps us identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign:

much, (a) little, less, the amount of

B. Most small companies in developing countries has little money and employees

Incorrect.

This answer choice repeats the original Parts of Speech mistake: the article little can describe only non-count nouns and employees is a count noun.

In addition, replacing the plural verb have with the singular verb has creates a Subject Verb Agreement mistake: the plural subject companies does not agree with the singular verb has.

C. Many small companies in developing countries have little money and few employee

Incorrect.

While this answer choice attempts to correct the original Parts of Speech mistake by adding the article few, it creates another mistake by changing the plural noun employees to the singular employee, making the sentence illogical.

This answer choice also changes the meaning of the original sentence by replacing Most with Many.

D. Many small companies in developing countries have little money and employees

Incorrect.

This answer choice repeats the original Parts of Speech mistake: the article little can describe only non-count nouns and employees is a count noun.

In addition, this answer choice changes the meaning of the original sentence by replacing Most with Many.

E. Most small companies in developing countries have little money and few employees

This answer choice corrects the original mistake by adding the article few to describe the count noun employees.
