Hi

I am currently on career break (extended maternity break). And I will be applying to Indian b schools for executive mba as I have 12+ yrs of experience.
Is there anyone in similar situation or has been and made it to b school?

Most school applications as for current job description, since am not working would writing about motherhood makes sense? How shall I go about it.

rkhosla,
Depending on your stats, resume, profile etc, you may be eligible to apply for Fellow Programs in Sloan, Stanford & LBS.
With little details on your profile however, I don't want to give you false hopes.

Feel free to connect for a 1:1 session. Please ping on my LinkedIn

TheIvyLeagueEdge thanks for a prompt response. I am more bent towards options with Indian B schools.

Sure,
To answer your original question, can people in your situation make it to a BSchool, the answer is YES.
Needless to say, the application would have to clearly give a compelling version of your life story, along with the WHY exactly do you want to join one, and the HOW you plan to use the Program.
That is why details of your profile, achievements, WorkEx, Extra Curriculars, GRE/GMAT score etc would help a lot to give you an informed opinion.

Hope that helps.

As noted above, motherhood can certainly be one aspect of your overall application. Just because it is the most recent phase of your life does not mean it needs to be the most prominent in your application.

You still have years of work experience. Your previous roles, responsibilities, and accomplishments must be the focus. You can most definitely incorporate your maternity "leave" as a transition in your life as long as it factors into why you are seeking an MBA and what you plan to do after graduating.

If we can be of help to you in crafting the narrative for Indian b-school, don't hesitate to reach out for a free consultation.

Hello rkhosla,

Hope this finds you well.

While your maternity break can be one aspect of your application, it cannot encompass it. A lot will depend on your work experience prior to the maternity leave, and everything adds up to you achieving your career goals (and what those goals are).

Needless to say, a compelling story is what you need to give yourself a fair chance at making it to any business school.

Some 1-year programs in India may require you to take the GMAT; in that case, how you perform on the test will also determine your chances.

All the best!
