Hi,
510 (Q37, V27 or lesser, I'll explain) was my disappointing GMAT score last week. I was able to pull upto 670 in offical prep mock before the test, but...
My GMAT prep since Mar 2021 was mired with COVID difficulties for self and family coupled with wfh and childcare pressures, but that's a sob story not for this post.
I am determined to rework to attain a 700 by Sep-15, so that I can apply in the last rounds of IIMs one-year programs. This time, I will have at least 4 hours per day of study.
The following were my pain points during prep and the test. I appreciate this forum's assistance and responses.
1) As much as my peer groups and family (and I too) have considered myself to be an avid reader and fluent in English, the GMAT CR and RC did show my true colors.
I have struggled a lot in breaking down CR and building the right logic. Similarly, inferences in RC were tough.
I have used the OG as a base for my prep, in addition to YouTube webinars.
What resources and specific courses would you suggest to upskill myself in CR and RC?
I am looking for as much free resources as possible.
2) I have worked hard during prep to bring my quant from 35-37 to 47-49.
During the test, I thought the questions were too easy. But I still scored low.
I assume I may have made the unforgivable silly mistakes, but I was confident.
How do I overcome this?
3) Would re-doing the OG entirely help?
I will also invest in new mock tests.
4) A few blogs suggest to take the GRE if vocabulary is a strength (which is, for me) and GMAT if logical and analytical abilities are the strength.
Is this good advice?
Hate to have an extrinsic excuse but I started the test day with a headache so bad that I couldn't see the screen or read the first few questions. I wanted to leave the test. This headache that persisted all through the test was a deterrent in some ways too. I saw the 510 but didn't really register section-wise scores. But again, I am determined to fix what I can.
So, appreciate your responses and support.
Thanks much!
