going with E

A. treating her so frail (who's so frail..doesn't really make sense)
B. treating her being so frail (treating her being...that's not grammatically correct i think)
C. treating her yet being so frail (tough one, chose C over this was because the tense of being...since later on in the sentence it used the word "dared" and earlier in the sentence "use to" suggest a past tense)
D. treating her, and so frail (who's so frail? usage of and should be accompanied by parallelism but not present in this case? didnt chose this one because of that)
E. treating her yet was so frail (chose this one due to the same reason as C)

Who is "her" in this sentence referring to ?

shouldn't be 'uses' there since the patient is singular

I think there is a typo here; it should be ‘used to rain ‘ instead of use to rain; The correct version will be
Mr. Torres, whose sturdy appearance conceals a surprising sensitivity, described

Now you can appreciate the use of his and her in the right perspective. The patient was a weak female.


A. treating her so frail – who was frail ; the patient or the treaters? Ambiguous modification- reject
B. treating her being so frail----- being so frail modifies treaters - Of course being itself is enough to reject
C. treating her yet being so frail --- being modifies treaters --- reject

D. treating her, and so frail – 'who was so frail' is not clear --- reject
E. treating her yet was so frail – here the actual subject 'the patient' is elliptical. treating her yet( the patient) was so frail --- best bet given the grammatical flaws in the other choices. Still the choice could have been better with at least comma after the word ‘her’ to make things more clear.

Hey daagh please clarify this.

Why is C worng. Exactly how come being modifies treaters.

And also is being not preferred in GMAT.

1. I meantthe phrase 'being so frail' modifies treaters –but who else can it logically refer to? Can it modify an object pronoun such as ‘her’? Or or will it modify ‘treating her’, taking the phrase as a gerund and absurdly meaning that treating her was so frail. What meaning can you infer from that sentence?

2. If you have any doubts whether being is not preferred in GMAT, please go through the following questions in GMAT OG12th edition ; Q2, 49,52,62, 76,100,108,110,117,120, 123, 130 and 140. Read through the OE of these topics, and you will understand GMAT’s mindset of why being is the singular most untouchable word in GMAT SC; Except in the case of 101, being has been rejected in all other cses.
If you have still any doubts, then please go through, OG 11, OG 10, Verbal review 2nd edition, and the scores of GPREP question and try to see the reasoning of GMAT .
Alternately, you may simply believe being is wrong in most of the GMAT topics and get going to issues that are more important.
However, as a matter of help and solely for the purpose my tutorials, it shall be my pleasure to receive any cases of being acceptable to GMAT.
