Mr. X — 10min= (1/6) hour
Mr. Y — 9min= (3/20) hour

(1/6)*( x —2) = (3/20)*x
(1/6)x —(1/3)=( 3/20)*x
x( 1/6 —3/20)= 1/3
x(1/60)= 1/3
—> x= 20

(1/6)* (20–2)= 18/6= 3

The answer is D

We can create the equation:

(r - 2)(10/60) = r(9/60)

Multiplying the equation by 60, we have:

10(r - 2) = 9r

10r - 20 = 9r

r = 20

Thus, the distance was 20(9/60) = 180/60 = 3 (or 18(10/60) = 180/60 = 3).

Answer: D

10/60 ×(x-2)= 9/60×x
10x-20 =9x
C=20
Distance = 1/6 ×18
= 3km

Let
The distance is X km
As X=VT
V=X/T
so,
{X /(9/60)} - {X / (10/60) } = 2
=> X=3

Using Ratios

Ratio of time ( x:y) = 10:9
This implies ratio of Rate (x:y) = 9:10
Stem: Rate of Mr X is Y -2 , Rate of Mr Y = Y
Therefore 9/10 = Y-2/Y
Y = 20

20 Miles in 60 mins
? in 9 mins

9/60 * 20 = 3
