Hi all!! First off, apologies if I'm on the wrong thread, wasn't too sure on which one to post. I was hoping to get different perspectives that could help me make a good decision. I am facing a tough decision here! I was just admitted to Kelley's MS Business Analytics and their new MS in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Before delving into that, let me add some context.
I graduated with my MBA from IE Business School in March of this year, Entrepreneurship track. IE was an unbelievable experience for me and I really fell in love with entrepreneurship. However, with the increasing importance of big data and analytics, it was always the plan for me to complete the MS in Business Analytics. I was between the program at Carey, Stern, and Kelley until Kelley announced their new MS in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. This program immediately caught my eye and now that I'm admitted I'm torn between which to go for. Below are the pros and cons of my options, I would greatly appreciate any help or advice!! Thanks in advance!!
MS in Ent & Inno
Pros: Silicon Valley residency & pitch to VCs, participation in Agile Program (global consulting residency for emerging market SMB), participation in Kelley's business plan challenges (two additional residencies), new program and inaugural cohort so will have all the attention and support, deepen my entrepreneurship knowledge and expertise, able to launch my own venture (essentially a program requirement), am able to replace general business courses for analytics courses
Cons: overlap with my Entrepreneurship education at IE so I am really afraid of studying the same thing, I think I run a very serious risk of looking like I studied Entrepreneurship twice to potential hiring managers etc., further improves a current skill, doesn't add a new one
MS in Business Analytics
Pros: really prepare myself to enter the data and analytics world (hugely important!), gain an entirely new skillset and abilities, position myself as a well rounded candidate for any companies that I apply for
Cons: only one residency (I highly value this although I might still be able to do the Agile program), miss out on all the residencies and experiences of the other program
What do you all think?
