I am considering taking up MS Finance(part-time) to enhance my profile when I apply for an MBA. I have 3 years work experience till now and will have 5 years by the time I enter B-school. I have cleared 2 levels of CFA and sitting for the third one. Will taking up MS Finance enhance my profile or actually hurt it as most of these topics could be covered in MBA? I am yet to take my GMAT but I am expecting a score of 700. I want to get into the top 5 B-school. I could do a post graduate diploma instead of MS Finance which is cheaper but not as comprehensive.
The biggest issue with my profile is my work experience has been very patchy with different fields like IT, sales and finance as a part of it and not much in terms of leading teams. My GPA wasn't amazing either in undergrad. I was wondering if an MS finance/diploma in finance would help me break into the top schools.

Your progress on the CFA is certainly a good sign. An MS in Finance rarely interferes with an MBA since it is usually far more specialized than the typical General Management MBA. Do you intend to work in finance post MBA?

Thanks for the quick response. I plan to work in finance post MBA. I wanna do an MBA for the knowledge and the networking experience. The only school I can look at now is RMIT,Australia which has collaborated with SIM in singapore, which isn't the most coveted degree. Will this hamper my chances of getting admission as it would mean that I know a lot of the courses(finance atleast) in MBA. The other alternative is a one year graduate diploma awarded by LSE from singapore. The latter option is cheaper as well.
