Good thought process. I'd say this. Don't do an Indian MBA, no matter what. If you want a top US MBA, it will preclude you from applying and not help you. Not sure if cost is going to be an issue, but if it isn't, you can apply and get into a number of US MSF programs that have a good brand both in the US and back in your home country. You could go there, get a US brand and GPA and look for work in your chosen field. If it doesn't work out, you'd have a brand that would benefit you back home, while you build your work experience for your US MBA application.
I'd also consider some really good UK or European schools. Would help you both inside and outside of India and set you up for an MBA later on.
Also, the CFA is 100% worth going for. I think it is the gold standard for the investment management space and something you can do that is low cost and on your own time.
