MS Finance=sales job

Hi, is it true MS finance==sales job? Because I was looking through job ads and most of them wants people who know modelling. Thus, I conclude MFE is quite good for jobs search while MS finance is not that good as it covers a broad base but does not go in depth in anything. Anyway, for my targetted university, they only have one module for modelling. Initially, I wanted to do MS finance but now I have second thought. Additional info is that I pass my CFA L3 and the MS Finance I am targetting has syllabus that closely cover the CFA.

An MSF will help you get into banking, trading, risk management, corporate finance, etc. The modeling they are talking about is financial modeling (DCF, LBO, etc) which is incorporating throughout the MSF program. The modeling you learn in an MFE or Computational Masters program is much more quantitative and focused on programming.

MSF does not equal sales jobs.

Yeah, it looks like a typical course outline for an MSF program. You will have modeling throughout the program and especially within the financial modeling class.

In short: Absolutely not! Analyst, associate, mgmt consulting etc. is also career possibilities. Its a quantitative heavy degree, and thus all careers where strong analytical thinking and a flair for numbers is sought after qualities are positions you can apply for with an MSF.

MS in Finance really just gives you a heads up against other competition. So if you want a sales job, you'll probably more than likely get hired for it.

Just because you have a MS in Finance doesn't guarantee you anything. The things certain in life is death and taxes.....death...and taxes :)
