The US equivalent on the scale of 4 would be around 2.6 or 2.7

After completing the degree I'll work in the same field.

Country is not yet decided, given higher fees of US universities I would prefer Europe.
But it would be really helpful if you can suggest some schools for on my profile in Europe or US or any specific country

Hey there,

You have an interesting profile, here are some pointers about the same:

You have an average GPA, and you have not mentioned anything about your college rank. However, the GPA can be easily compensated by a strong GRE Score. A 320 in your mock tests looks good, I would strongly suggest you to aim for a 325+ score in your official attempt.
Since you have an engineering background, you come under-the “over-represented category” of applicants. Also, keep in mind that you have to justify your reasons for making a career switch from technology to finance.
Your extra-curriculars are decent - But remember that Adcoms are interested in impact created, rather than just participation. Make sure that you focus on the impact created.

While It is a great initiative on your part to take up internships and courses related to the field, it still does not account for a lot of finance related experience with regardings to the competition.
Getting into a top MSc Finance program can be a bit of challenge without a strong financial background. Your essays need to be exceptionally strong to showcase your motivation towards a long term career in finance.
Alternatively, you could pursue a general Masters in Management degree and specialize in finance.

Lastly -If you are able to create a strong application, I do not think that taking a gap year is necessary.
