Hi!

Could someone please help me out? I wanted to apply to the MIT MFin. Here's my profile.

-Int. Student
-3.5 GPA from IEP Sciences Po Paris (Major: Economics & Law, Minors: Entrepreneurship, Management of Banking & Financial Institutions)
-4 months internship at a start up consulting firm
-Currently starting up an investment firm in Kenya (Started in September)
-700 GMAT (Q48, V38), Going to redo: hoping for +730

I don't have as much experience, which worries me quite a lot. I've done a couple of MOOCs but I'm not very sure if they take that into account.

Thanks!

Would you have any suggestions for me?

This is my profile:
Country: Costa Rica
BA in Business from USA college
GPA: 3.6
Work experience: 1 year as PR and Community Manager in the USA
GRE: 306 (I know... :()
GMAT: planning to take

Thanks

I'd almost recommend you look at MiM programs. PR and Community Manager isn't very finance orientated. BA usually means less math than a BS. Costa Rican is cool. Gotta get your GRE/GMAT up though. Masters in Management would like your experience, but also give you a variety of job opportunities.

-Currently working full time as Analyst Programmer in a company that provides IT solution to organisations. (7 Months)

Not sure about Oxford, but I think you have a good shot at LSE. They have a number of MS in Finance program variants and not all have the same entrance requirements/scores. I forget off the top of my head which one is the hardest vs "easiest".

Hello MSFHQ,

Could you please help evaluating my profile?

I'm actually new here as im planning to pursue my MFin as of next year in the US.

My profile is as follows :

Undergrad : Banking and Finance in one of the best Universities in the MEA. (GPA : 3.4)
GRE : 158Q , 141V
Toefl : still pending

Target universities : Villanova , Boston College , George Washington U, John Hopkins, University of Maryland , Bentley University, University of Delaware, Northeastern University.

What are my chances and evaluation concerning my stats and would you suggest retaking GRE even if i scored high in Toefl to recompensate my low Verbal score?
Any other universities suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

I think this is a good and unique profile. Really don't run into too many people from Costa Rica applying to MSF schools. GMAT is going to be important. I'd need to know the GRE splits to run a rough conversion though.

I think you have a good shot at Villanova, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Bentley, Del and Northeastern. Most likely Boston College as well. Why did you pick these schools though? Pretty random selection and mainly safety schools.

Hmmm. I think decent. At least for LSE. Oxford/Cambridge, I don't know as well. Maybe throw LBS into the mix. Their MiM and MS Business Analytics would fit your profile as well.

In at all, scholarship money at most. Great stats all around. IMO, If you have the math or the ability to get the math stats, I would say throw and app into MIT.

WUSTL is STEM certified now. Loyola Chicago is STEM. I think your profile would be more in line with Loyola than WUSTL. Campus is right in downtown Chicago which isn't a bad thing.

It is a fine program. Much more diverse than I used to think. I'd say it would be good if you are interested in working out West where most of the alumni reside. Really depends on what you are looking to do. If you want to break into NYC IBD this might be a tough program to do that from. If you are looking for a graduate degree and working at a a F500 of Big 4 accounting firm out West/Arizona, this would be a decent fit.
