Hey
116610LV,
Well, I appreciate your analysis of both the schools.
Both Columbia University and Cornell University are great options to be considered for MS in Real Estate Development programs.
In fact, Columbia MSRED is the best option for Masters in Real Estate Development, however, it being in Manhattan is very expensive, both in terms of tuition fees and living expenses.
That said, there are various funding options available through scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships, but they are pretty competitive and not available to all enrolled students. So, if you are able to get a scholarship, then Columbia is the best bet for you.
However, if not, Cornell is also a great option. It is an ivy league school so the quality of education shouldn’t be a problem. It’s ROI and education is right up there with the top schools.
The location is a bit of a concern, however, the location is a 3-4 hour drive to New York so you can still think of taking up a summer Internship at NYC like a lot of students do.
So, keeping all this in mind, make a well-informed decision. I would suggest you compare your skill gap and the goals you’re aiming for with the opportunities offered at both schools. All things considered, your end goal should be to transform into a well rounded professional and my personal suggestion to you would be to tread on the path that takes you closer to your goal.
