:) Hello everyone,

I'm writing in to seek some guidance and support with regards to my specific profile.

I'm a mechanical engineer by qualification, a copywriter (Creative Supervisor) by profession and I have about 5 years of work experience in the advertising industry. I am also a musician and music forms a pretty big part of what I do. My undergraduate GPA is a little above 3.0 and I have about 4 years of volunteering experience with a few NGOs. I have a GMAT score of 720 and I have started applying to B-Schools, mostly in Canada and the US. I applied last year and got into a couple of schools, but I decided to strengthen my profile and re-apply. I'm pretty well-versed with the application process and I think I can write great essays (considering I write for a living). Looking to make the shift to a creative strategy and leadership role after my MBA.

My interest areas are Marketing/Brand Management/Media & Arts Management/Advertising or Communication Management.

Aligned with my future career goals, do you have any recommendations regarding schools/programs/geographies that you think I must check out?

Any other suggestions/questions/comments are more than welcome and I hope that this post will also be able to help others who come across it.

Interesting profile and good GMAT. You should be able to get into several good options with strong apps. Some particular ones to look at are schools such as UCLA and Columbia, that are stronger for people looking at careers in media. Also have a look at the IMC program at Medill (Northwestern). While not an MBA, it may be an excellent option for someone like you to consider.

Thanks for the suggestions. I got rejected w/o interview by UCLA, USC and Stern last year, so I'm a little concerned about applying to Columbia & UCLA again. I mostly will be applying to Ross and McCombs as well. I did consider the Medill IMC program as well but I've been told that it can be pretty difficult to land jobs after graduation and that an MBA is a safer bet. Besides, the IMC program is incredibly expensive and costs almost as much as an MBA, so I absolutely cannot afford to not find a good job after :/
