Hi All,
Here we go again, my 7TH test and I scored 510(Q42,V20)! My average mocks was 630, all above 600, I actually scored 680 in my latest kaplan mock. Yes I am still in disbelieve!
My test results for the last five exams were as follow
450-(Q39,V14)
530-(Q36,V27)
500-(Q42,V19)
560-(Q47,V21)
540-(Q44,V20)
550-(Q39,V27)
I feel that GMAT is not for me, I tried EVEYTHING, one-to-one classes, group classes, different materials, different tests, full time/ part time study and different centers. nothing worked for me.
I have 7 years work experience, a BSc and MSc in engineering, was accepted to the program last year but it was to late to get the GMAT on time.
So, I wrote to the university explaining my situation and now waiting for its decision, my 560 is way below its average of 650, so it is unlikely I will start on the full-time course next month and I am really, really disappointed.

Allow me to say my personal opinion , but it seems Either you lack basic foundation concepts which GMAT tests Or you get trapped by the GMAT tricks/subtleties (which also have some patterns).
You are the best person to judge you and root out what is holding you !
This surely doesn't mean that you should not get any tutors, etc.. but my point is that You are primary, rest is secondary - so be motivated, focused, make use of this wonderful place (gmatclub
) and opt for some tutor course/s (if you feel so) !
Coming to the Verbal matter -
I'd recommend that you must read or revise (in case you have already read ) -
"Foundations of GMAT Verbal" by Manhattan
The Sentence Correction Guide
and then Aristotle Sentence Correction for Sentence Correction
I guess, you are also not so strong at CR, for CR -
The Critical_Reasoning Guide and then Critical Reasoning bible by Powerscore

I have read many articles on the same issue and give you some useful information and key points that i gathered:
(1) Different Testing Environment- Create an actual test environment for your mock tests and follow the same pattern as real GMAT
(2) Although you will encounter many difficult quant and verbal problems during the mock tests, I believe they are in no way of GMAT standard. Do not rely upon the mock test to estimate your real test score. Keep in mind 15% of your question are taken a s experimental in original GMAT. So you have to hit maximum corrects.- patterns-among-those-who-scored-750-what-did-they-use-157979.html
(3) Identify your weaknesses and make study plan devoting 60% break up to solve them first.- how-to-review-and-analyze-your-mistakes-167118.html
(4) Again as per BB, One of the keys to a successful retake is to regain your test confidence - don't try to tackle the hardest hurdle first, focus on small victories to help motivate you to climb higher hills. Rome was not built in one day. Small victories will win the war. Thus, even though you have 45 Quant and 28 Verbal, it may be a better idea to get your Quant to 48 or 49 (and get your confidence back) before tackling the harder verbal questions.
