I'd love to hear your opinion on my chances to get into an elite/ultra-elite b-school with a strong focus on international business. I have a degree in a social sciences field from a large public with a 3.7 GPA/4.0 major. My GMAT score is 700 (Q 42 / V 49). I will be applying for entry in fall 07, so I will have close to two and a half years of work experience by then, mostly with a family-owned real estate financing company but including one internship in Hawaii and one in Europe. I also played Division I football in college and volunteer regularly with 3 small organizations. What are my chances for a Columbia, Wharton, NYU, Duke, etc?
Also what is your opinion of admission consultants? Thanks for your help.

I would also be interested to hear what effect athletics has on an application. I was a very successful division one athlete. Do AdComs care? Does that usually set you apart in a good way?

Other than the work experience which is rather light for some schools in the top two clusters, it sounds like you are off to a good start. Athletics is certainly a plus in business school applications- teamwork, dedication, high academic performance despite a demanding schedule . . .
