Today on 16 Aug, 2022, I gave my GMAT Exam and I got 550 score which is at least 150 points less than my target score. The individual scores are Q48 (2 points less than target), V19 (17 points less) and IR 5 (as expected even highest ever). Feeling terrible after getting this score. My GMAT Preparation journey is as under and i want your honest opinions:
My GMAT preparation journey start from May, 2022 (there was a gap of 25 days in May, when i could not study in, so effectively I started from June) when I gave my first mock on ExpertsGlobal (EG) without even knowing how many sections GMAT has. My score was 670 (Q49, V32).
After that I purchased EG full course and started preparation. Since all of the EG mocks were non-adaptive, I also subscribed to GMATCLUB individual section mocks and gave roughly 10 - 10 verbal and quants mocks during June and July 2022. I got the scores in verbal in range of 15 (in very first mock) to 27 and in Quant in range of 46 to 28.
My target date for appearing in GMAT was mid July, so that i could have 30 days for application. The above-mentioned timeline seems reliable since i got 640 in my very first mock. I talked to my mentor who guided me during the journey and he advised me to go through the e-gmat verbal lectures and attempt the 2nd official mock test. I did the same, I went through all the lectures of e-gmat.
Then i gave my 2nd official mock as well and got only 610.
I felt so bad after that and was not able to understand that after giving so much time and energy, my score continuously going down. At that time, i thought it is due to absence of the exam date since i don't know the exam date that's why i am not preparing best. So, I decided to book the exam on for 16.08.2022.
In the meanwhile i gave other mocks as well, the summary table of all full length mocks along with date is as under

After all of the efforts, spending time and energy during preparation, i gave my official test today in order to apply for the 2nd round of applications of IIMs but scored the worst of my scores today. I don't understand why this happened. Even now i start doubting my future planning which were based on today's exam. Now i have been suggested by my friends to buy e-gmat course and use scholaranium for practice (i have already gone through the concept videos)
Now, after all of this, I have come to the conclusion that whether all mocks were giving me wrong indication that i would score greater than 28 at least in verbal.
Is EG mocks are nowhere closed to the reality?
What i should do now?
As my round 3 application will start from November onward. So i will need my target score by October last. Just guide me whether 700 is impossible for me, if not, then how can i achieve the same.

After that I purchased EG full course and started preparation. Since all of the EG mocks were non-adaptive, I also subscribed to GMATCLUB individual section mocks and gave roughly 10 - 10 verbal and quants mocks during June and July 2022. Hi. Sorry about the verbal score. I would say even though there are always a lot of disclaimers about practice test scores versus real test results including seeing repeat questions and unrealistic testing conditions, it seems all of your tests were fairly consistent across many providers (though it seems GMAT Club test were extremely generous for your verbal score).
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that unless you did something really wrong on your practice test such as looking up answers, it looks like a case of a test that had gone wrong for some reason. Over the years I’ve seen people who would take a two week break and retake the test and get a sometimes meaningfully higher score without doing any studying. I don’t have a great explanation for it except it was a bad test day I guess.
One other thing to point out, if your target is 700, and most of your practice tests are 50 points away, I think it’s a little ambitious to assume you could outperform your practice results on the test day. I can see doing this if you’re 10 points away and you just can’t see a way to improve your score and you’ve put in a ton of effort …
Another interesting observation, I’m not sure what you have been studying or doing but your trend line for score improvement is fairly flat. Looking at your scores from April all the way through July and August, I don’t really see any improvement. Have you noticed that? Have you done anything about that? What have you tried to change?

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Since your 'mentor' was giving you GMAT-related advice, what is his/her expertise (or experience) with the GMAT?
3) What is your overall goal score?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
