Hey Guys! Just lost my V card, after a prep of around 3 months, here is a quick rundown :>
T-1 Day
I scheduled it in the Pearson Centre, GGN India, and even though I reached one day earlier from my hometown and booked hotel it couldn't have gone worse, practically my Worst Decision Ever, and here are (1)3 reasons why-
1. The hotel I booked on a reputed website, turned out to be fraud. Had to spend an hour or so in the hot sun calling the number which had no recharge, so I heard no incoming available for the number.
2. After spending more for a new hotel, I ordered food online, yea yea yea, spoiler alert, it never came. So I spent 2 hrs + a few mins with the customer support hangry.
3. Gave one mock around 5 pm, Scored like 40 points lesser on mocks than my minimum. My last 4 official gmat scores were- 695, 715, 735, 705 (usually 86 85 87). This time I got 655.
Personal Background: I completed my Bachelor's in 2024, with around 6 internships in distinct fields (I am a firm believer of you dunno anything, unless you have tried it, this also gave quite a generalist view for my understanding of different sides of business) then went on to work in Bengaluru, left after a year cuz I did not liked the city as a whole. I have a marketing degree and started teaching myself Python and C++ when I was around 14. I have been always interested in the Human side of the business, the one which aren't affected by fancy tech, but the ability of interaction, I am also deeply interested in psychology and consumer behaviour. So after that I moved to my city, and participated in some experiments I had hypothesised about, I joined a mid scale accounting firm with footprint in India and USA, I led the Zoho automation there, developed, delivered and trained people on that, also created educational videos, docs, etc. I kinda became a FixIT Guy, where problems were being thrown and I solved, then I saw a GTM problem and created outbound engines and a more inter connected marketing flow. We went on spending 3l per month on sm to increasing marketing budget to 15L pm. The company grew, and I was invited to join with the Directors, a small business trip of 2 weeks in Germany, where I had to lead a marketing campaign before the event(s) Ambiente and BIOFACH, we did that, it was a success and like a good scientist after completing his experiment, I wrote what worked, what not worked and what could have been done, I officially left after one year but consulted them pretty often, and currently working as an Independent contractor for a few international clients in GTM. I am also learning French since I left Bengaluru and am now working for a B2 DELF Certification. I am targeting French Schools.
D-DayWoke up around 8, Started with a light salad, and then went to Starbucks for coffee, met a few chill people, we talked and one of them gave GMAT earlier, some tips here and there and best of luck, etc. Then on the unfortunate day, dated Tuesday 18 August, 2026, around 1:15 I reached there. NGL, the facility was lovely, really great, they treated me well, the locker was spacious, but the verification was a bit longer than my last visit to Immigration.
Anyway, we started with the usual Quants->DI->Verbal, the usuals, which I just clicked on muscle memory. First question was easy, then second came, and I wasted a horrifying 5 mins figuring out average speed of sm old lady walking (the irony it was one of the 2 questions I got wrong in quants section). I don't remember much, it passed and I was working mostly on auto pilot in quants (LIKE A MACHINE BABY!!!). Then came the nightmare section, oh my, oh my oh myyyyyyyyyy...
DI First question and I know there's smth seriously wrong, I got a headache, so harsh, I masssaged my forehead a bit then focused. Then took a break after the section, went to washroom then ran some cold water through my hands, then splashed my face. Then gave Verbal.
Final Score 595 (81 75 84), I know, I know very underwheliming, and I was in disbelief, would say went into a shock. Long story short, my whole MSR Section was wrong, DI I got like 8 correct only.
Thats all folks, v sad, whatcha think? Should I reattempt and spend the 30k+ again? I mean its hard getting back the confidence and optimism T-T
