.. and although I got some praises here and there (More rarely than I was hoping), most of the comments just blew me away. And those comments are quite correct. I can't believe that I was feeling so proud of these essays just yesterday 
ps. The reviewer is this ex-colleague of mine who is just amazing with writing and the language in general. And based on her feedback, I can tell that she understands everything about the MBA admissions just as much as I do (Even if she hasn't read all those books and hasn't visited GMATClub).

Don't be discouraged at least you have someone to help you that knows what they are talking about. When I sent my first essay to my brother I was very confident in it, but then he went to town on my first essay. It was shocking to get the comments and recommendations back. He was an english major and is a great writer so I was prepared for comments on my writing but I thought the content was solid. He also is director of market research (or some fancy title like that) at an ad agency, so he knows all about positioning products (in this case me) and surprisingly to me, my writing had few errors but he boy did he have tons of comments on how to sell myself better.
Looking at the stuff he told me it was almost spot on in every case and I don't think anyone else would pick up on all the things he did. I am taking his advice since its what he gets paid to do everyday, so I would hope he would know better than I do. I wasn't really discouraged at all though since if anything it gives me more confidence in having a solid product. If he hadn't really found anything I would be worried that he was too busy and didn't really put a lot of effort into it. By tearing it apart I know he really went over it thoroughly.

Precisely. I was also expecting more comments on the writing. I thought that the content was appreciable. And although it wasn't shredded to pieces, but it was ripped apart well. Like in your case, the ripping was more like, "Interesting, but why don't you do this to improve the essay" rather than "Dude, this is crap". But the suggestions clearly showed how much my essays were lacking.
And yeah, I didn't get discouraged by it. I would prefer to get my essays creamed by her comments and then get selected at a top school than get hunky dory feedback that gets me no admit. Simple as that. My only problem is that unlike you, who has a brother doing this, I have an ex-colleague doing this. And although she seems to be doing an awesome job (She is a documentation professional BTW), I don't want her to feel that I am exploiting her kindness. So I'll have to plan how and when to send her some thank-you gifts etc.
EDIT: Oh, and one thing is for certain .. there's just no way I would have gotten this kind of personal attention and such a great feedback from an admission consultant. My feeling is that you should look at your friends and family first for the personal attention .. and then look at rhyme for MBA application specific guidance. There's no reason to go beyond that.

Second, people had VERY GOOD comments about how my sentences don't flow into each other, certain things are very boring to read (even if the content is good), and there's too much passive voice. Third, I still "tell" too much instead of "show", so I need to fix that.
