Hi Everybody,
I had attempted the GMAT for the second time on the 3rd of October 2018, In London. I had seen the test center when I went in for my Driver's license test and saw others attempting the GMAT there. I was actually late for my drivers test, and the Procter told me that he would give me only 30 minutes for a 45 minute test. I completed the test in 15 minutes and aced it. He told me that it was the shortest period of time he had seen anyone complete the test and still ace it. That is when I asked him about the GMAT, and asked him whether he had seen anyone score an 800 there. He told he that no one had till then, but he was sure that I would score an 800 if I attempted it. Well.., I could feel the motivation surging across my veins, and decided that I will attempt the GMAT at least once from that center, irrespective of my level of preparation.
I tried to prepare, but it was hard - and so, I found myself booking a slot. My preparation was limited to the Official Guide 2018.
. I did attempt the free GMAT Prep tests and reviewed them. I thought that RC was my strongest, followed by PS. I thought that I could somehow manage SC but dreaded CR and DS. I loathed IR with all my heart. Though I liked AWA, I have never been able to crack a 5 or a 6 in it.
My Strategy on exam day.
1) I thought that I will take the least time on RC, as I was good in in it.
2) I wanted to spend more time on PS than DS, and decided to guess on DS questions even the questions looked to be beyond me. Yes - I was looking to save time for the PS questions, as I thought that I will ace the PS questions.
I started with the Verbal Section, and I could see that I was getting the CR questions right. I was unconsciously doing a bit of pre-thinking and could in fact spot the right answer choice. SC was a bit dicey and the RC questions were time consuming. I tried to limit the time I spent on RC questions (A big mistake - with the benefit of hindsight) and use the extra time on CR and SC.
I scored a 670. Q46, V36, IR 3.
ESR - CR - 91 Percentile, SC - 81 Percentile, RC 55 Percentile,
PS - 73 Percentile, DS 26 Percentile.
The writing on the wall is very much clear. Can't try to game GMAT by saving up time on one section and using it on another, as the scores will be be reflective of this. RC has to be aced. An 85 Percentile in all sections will probably yield a much higher score than what I have.
I will put in my ESR if anyone is interested. Its been 2-3 years now - and I want to attempt the GMAT again. Please - if anyone can come with tips for me to improve, it will benefit me.

First off, a 670/Q46 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. Since your Official GMAT Score is valid for 5 years, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Based on your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores from this attempt, you clearly have an opportunity to pick up points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections, so retaking the GMAT (with the goal of scoring higher) makes a certain amount of sense. Before we discuss how you might best approach a restart to your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your timeline and goals:
Studies:
1) You mentioned that this was your 2nd attempt at the GMAT? When did you take your first attempt and how did you score?
2) How long did you study in total?
3) What study materials did you use?
Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). Since you have the for this ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.
