Hello Everybody,
My prep began a week ago, and I don't really have a formal setup yet as to how I want to tackle all of this. My target date to take the GMAT is Oct. 1st, so I have 4 1/2 months to get ready, which I think will be plenty of time. I technically only need a 550 on the test, but I'm going on the assumption that I need a 600+, and since I'm going to give myself 4 1/2 months, to prepare, I figured what the hell, might as well shoot for 700.
My current materials:
*
MGMAT Books *OG 12
*
MGMAT Advanced Quant (when it becomes available)
*[strike]porn[/strike]
As I said, my study plan isn't really formalized as of yet. My current strategy (unless someone has a better idea) is to start with
MGMAT Number Properties (Book 1) and work my way through all 8 books by completing one chapter a day and doing the end of chapter questions (and related OG 12 questions that the
MGMAT Books suggest). Doing one chapter per day will keep me making progress each day without the need to do a 4-5 hour study session at any point. At that rate, I would finish all 8 books roughly around the first week of August, which will still give me about 7 weeks of prep time left. At that point, I'm not sure how I will proceed. I do know, however, that I will be taking the week before my test off from work so that I can do a practice test every day to build up my endurance.
Assuming I do infact complete a chapter per day, I will post the results for the end of chapter questions (and OG questions as they are completed). I started last week on May 9th, so here are the results thus far:
MGMAT Number PropertiesDay 1, 5/9/11
Ch.1, Divisibility and Primes
Score = 12/15
Comments: Disappointed. Thought I did better. On the bright side 2 of the 3 incorrect answers were careless mistakes on my part, so I knew the material. I just need to pay better attention to detail.
Day 2, 5/10/11
Ch.2, Odds & Evens
Score = 15/15
Comments: Felt good to get a perfect score.
Day 3, 5/11/11
Ch. 3, Positives & Negatives
Score = 12/15
Comments: Again, careless mistakes. Chances are I would have caught these mistakes on the actual exam since it is multiple choice.
Day 4, 5/12/11
Ch. 4, Consecutive Integers
Score= 14/15
Comments: Satisfied. One of the questions confused me.
Day 5, 5/13/11
Ch. 5, Exponents
Score = 11/15
Comments: Seeing a pattern here. I do well on even days, make careless mistakes on odd days. My target GMAT date is an odd day. I'm screwed!

Day 6, 5/14/11
Ch. 6, Roots
Score = 15/15
Comments: Happy with the results. Nothing difficult.
Day 7, 5/15/11
Ch. 7, PEDMAS
Score = 6/10
Comments: Easily my most disappointing score. Really expected to breeze through these 10 questions. Once again, 3 out of my 4 incorrect answers were careless mistakes.
Day 8, 5/16/11
Ch. 8, Strategies for Data Sufficiency
Score = no questions
Comments: Easily the most confusing chapter, and I can definitely see this being an achillies heel as I progress.
