It has been 3 months since I completed my GMAT. This community and the eGMAT platform have been a constant support for me since day 1 and so I thought I’d share my journey with everyone. I also did a youtube video sharing my journey so if anyone wishes to watch that instead (to find it please search for egmat success stories and you'd find my name there

). If anyone has any questions that I can answer, please feel free to reach out to me here or via pm.
Introduction: Paving the GMAT Journey During My Final YearEntering my final year pursuing a BBA in finance, I contemplated the inevitability of pursuing a master's degree. This foresight nudged me to consider the GMAT, understanding the challenges of juggling a corporate career with test preparation later on. The five-year validity of the GMAT made it a logical choice to tackle during my college years.
The Quest for Structure: EGMAT's Guided ApproachInitially, my foray into GMAT preparation with a few friends revolved around attempting tests and solving questions. However, while my friends' scores soared into the late 600s and early 700s, mine stagnated in the early 600s. Recognizing the need for a structured approach, I leaned on my academic inclination, seeking a more organized method for GMAT preparation. Thus, I discovered the EGMAT platform.
EGMAT: The Bedrock of My GMAT ExpeditionMy journey commenced with methodical coursework, primarily focusing on strengthening my verbal skills, which were my Achilles' heel. The coursework's depth and attention to detail aligned perfectly with my penchant for thoroughness. Additionally, the concept of "cementing" through curated quizzes after each topic struck a chord, cementing my understanding and ensuring comprehensive learning.
The Enchantment of Scholaranium: A Data-Driven OdysseyAmidst the EGMAT platform's myriad offerings, Scholaranium became my sanctuary. Its robust data analysis tools empowered me to meticulously track my progress, allowing me to pinpoint and fortify my weaker areas. The platform's emphasis on quantifying progress resonated deeply with my analytical learning style.
Deciphering the Verbal Enigma: The CR and RC RevolutionThe realm of Critical Reasoning (CR) underwent a metamorphosis as I shifted focus from heavy reliance on pre-thinking to a more nuanced approach involving visualization and comprehension of arguments. Reading Comprehension (RC) saw a similar transformation. Combining insights from EGMAT and GMAT Ninja videos, I honed my passage analysis skills by constantly interrogating the 'why' behind each paragraph.
The Mentorship Crucible: Abhishek and Harsha's Guiding LightAbhishek and Harsha emerged as pivotal mentors, elevating my understanding of Sentence Correction (SC) and RC beyond the realms of the prescribed coursework. Their guidance provided invaluable insights, filling the gaps and expanding my comprehension, ultimately influencing my score.
Quantum Leap in Quant: Embracing Structure Over Brute ForceDespite initial confidence in quant, the uniqueness of Data Sufficiency (DS) questions struck me profoundly. Transitioning from a brute-force approach to embracing structured methodologies helped me identify weaknesses and refine my problem-solving strategies effectively.
Advice For Aspiring GMAT Warriors: The Lessons From My Voyage1. Consistency Trumps Duration: My three attempts at the GMAT taught me that consistent, focused effort yields more significant results than the duration of preparation. Committing to diligent work, even if it's merely an hour a day, can make a substantial difference.
2. Delve Deep, Not Broad: Quality over quantity was a hard-earned lesson. Delving deeply into analysis and understanding a hundred questions thoroughly trumped skimming through a thousand.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback: A lot of what I achieved would not have been possible if it weren’t for the constant guidance that I had from my mentors Rida, Harsha and Abhishek. My constant connect with them allowed to fix my mistakes before reaching a cemented process allowing me to break problems before they solidified. It also allowed me to stick to a tried and tested path as well as bending the curves to allow for small detours based on my preferences and abilities. This was a quintessential part of my journey.
Parting ThoughtsMy odyssey through the GMAT landscape taught me invaluable lessons about structured learning, strategic analysis, and unwavering commitment. To those venturing on this path, remember: consistent effort and a depth of understanding will be your steadfast companions in the pursuit of success.
