Hello everyone I would like to ask for an really important advice for my carreer and thus, for my life:
Currently I'm 30 years old, and for the last 5 years I've been dreaming getting into an Elite Bussiness School at the US.
On July of 2023 I started my journey into the GMAT, and since then I've been studying faithfully most of the days, on weekdays after work I study about 3 hours (my work shift starts at 7 AM and ends about 6PM), thus I try to study from 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM, after I arrived at home. On weekends i spend most of the day studying with a little bit of rest. That has been bassically my life for the last 21 months.
I started using the
Magoosh course and I complete it in order to gain the basic topics and knowledge to face the GMAT. then i started doing the GMAT Official Guide, exercices, doing most of Quant, part of verbal, and just few of the Data Insights. After that I was doing a local course which I spend a few months doing it and I reallly didnt like it. then I started with the Target Test Preparation Course, but I havent complete it yet, since is a little bit long. Currently I am planing returning doing the TTP course which I stopped because I focused my studies efforts into analyizing my mock results and understanding my weakpoints and failures, pacing, timing and guessing strategies.
| Exercices |
| Platform | QR | VR | IR | Total |
| GMAT OG | 338 | 81 | 20 | 439 |
| Magoosh | 307 | 221 | 89 | 617 |
| TTP | 1,342 | 194 | 79 | 1,615 |
| E-GMAT | 21 | 23 | 20 | 64 |
| GMAT MT | 105 | 115 | 100 | 320 |
| Total | 2,113 | 634 | 308 | 3,055 |
But as you can see, the following table shows that my GMAT score is not improving, I made my official GMAT attempt in August 2024:
| TEST | Date | Score | QT | VR | DI |
| Magoosh | 13-Nov-23 | 505 | 76 | 79 | 70 |
| Magoosh | 2-Jan-24 | 465 | 75 | 78 | 67 |
| Magoosh | 7-Apr-24 | 505 | 76 | 74 | 67 |
| GMAT official Mock | 13-Apr-24 | 515 | 79 | 78 | 70 |
| EGMAT | 20-Apr-24 | 365 | 67 | 75 | 62 |
| GMAT official Mock | 13-Jun-24 | 475 | 73 | 74 | 74 |
| Official GMAT | 31-Aug-24 | 495 | 72 | 78 | 73 |
| GMAT official Mock | 1-Mar-25 | 535 | 75 | 80 | 74 |
| GMAT official Mock | 15-Mar-25 | 525 | 78 | 81 | 69 |
| GMAT official Mock | 5-Apr-25 | 495 | 77 | 78 | 69 |
So after 21 months of studying, multiple courses, exercices and mock test done, differtent strategies I am seriously reconsidering the GMAT, since no matter how much effort do I put for the test, no matter how much time and preparation I am doing, even no matter how much money I am putting, and no matter other opportunities I am missing such as the CFA, or local financial certifications, because the high demanding this test it is requiring me. I cannot really understand why a high school math problem such as properties of numbers can be so important for bussiness school, if in real world and in the finance industry no one uses it such things tested on the GMAT.
(Sorry I’m really frustrated right now, I'm always trying to be optimistic but I'm not seeing the results, and believe me I am putting all my efforts and I am doing everything I can).
So, after all, what I am doing wrong? Should i continue the TTP course? should I quit the GMAT for the GRE test? are my odds getting into Bussiness School doomed?
Thanks everyone for the advice.
