I meant to say that I would go through the OG until I was blue in the face. Sorry for the premature , err, hasty submission.

I'm getting confused. Isn't the question asking for something like (2^2)^3 which is 64? Where did you get 5 from?

(360^2) * (360^2) = 360^2+2 = 360^4 which is the same as saying 360^2*2

so (360^2)^3 = 360^6.

5 is wrong because you're adding 2 to 3 instead of multiplying. Try checking your work with a smaller number like 2 or 3 and you'll see your mistake. You can always check your work with a calculator.

I checked my previous post and I realised I used 5 instead of 3 but my answer was just as correct, just with an exponential different from that in the question.

My explanation still stands.

You're right. I accepted what the writer wrote:
"(360^2)^3. So basically 360 to the 5th power"

without thinking.

Of course (360^2)^3 is 360^6.

To answer your question, since everyone else is hung-up on the math example, you need to realize that there is a short-cut to the problem. For the example you gave, use the answer choices as a guideline to how to solve the problem. All the bases are in prime factors. That should tell you that you need to do a prime factorization. The rest is just knowing exponent rules. Looks hard but actually easy, which is typical of gmat problems.

Its not how much you study it is how smart you study. Examine why you are getting problems wrong and if you are using the correct test taking strategies. A low score does not mean your dumb.

Trust me friend very few people can crack the GMAT in the very first attempt. Most of the people you hear about getting 650 and above have taken the GMAT twice or even three times. The thing with studying PR, Kaplan, etc. is that it can never fullly prepare you for what you're going to experience on the real thing. The questions will be something you have never seen before.

Keep your nose to the grindstone and take another stab at the GMAT. I was in the same boat as you. I took the GMAT and cancelled my scores the first time and camke back and didn;t get the highest score but it was repectable and I got into a top school.

a 500 is disgraceful, a person that doesn't know what GMAT is can go sit down and slap ou ta 500, and you studied. Please tlel me u hardly studied, or maybe u have a learning disability. This score is awful, this is like a person working at mcdonalds would get. You need to look ureself in the mirror and say i am retarded, i need to study. Then you will get a 600, until u accept responsibility, good luck. You want our sympathy, but I dont feel you warrant it, as its your OWN FAULT!
