That’s a pretty tight timing with a month left. If you find that your essay work is starting to take a quality hit, leave at least one school for round two. You will be a better applicant by around two so you don’t want to apply to all of the target and aspirational schools, potentially strike out and then having to choose between safety because you tried to get in R1.

I have seen a lot of successful applicants from Round two of this previous season. Yes, around one applications have an edge but taken into consideration that the quality of round two of vacations will be significantly higher, and you will be more experienced applicant, the advantage of R1 is often completely negated.

Anyway, bottom line is make sure to apply in both rounds to schools you would consider attending. That’s another famous thing people do, apply to whole bunch of safety schools, pay app fees and do all the work only not to attend 🥴

Gotcha, thanks for the advice! I'm thinking of doing around 4 in R1 and 3 in R2 (not counting safeties). So that seems to align with your suggestions.

Yeah the timing could be tight, but so far I have done essays for 1 school, and hoping to knock out another one p soon! My main concern at this point is getting LoRs on time :(
