Hey guys,
I am a novice with respect to the GMAT and have literally started my journey to taking the test a couple of days ago. I developed a study schedule and--if any of you will oblige me--would like your comments/recommendations on my proposed plan of action. My strategy is as follows:
• Month 1 (Quantitative): Study all of the
MGMAT books and do the corresponding questions in the respective chapter and OG. Make note of questions answered incorrectly in my
error log (be sure to note the type of question and its page number). UNDERSTAND WHY YOUR ANSWER IS WRONG AND WHY THE CORRECT ANSWER IS RIGHT. Only move on to the next section when you have a complete understanding of the topic being covered.
• Month 2 (Verbal): Study all of the
MGMAT books and do the corresponding questions in the respective chapter and OG.
• Month 3 (Practice CAT): Get used to the CAT format. Take 1st GMAT prep test and ensure you time yourself. If time runs out and you are not finished, stop taking the test immediately; you want to ensure you adhere to the conditions of the real exam as closely as possible. Note all incorrect answers and go over the topics which they fall under in
MGMAT. If timing is an issue, then work on pacing yourself. Repeat this process after each of your 8 available CAT (2 GMAT prep CAT and 6
MGMAT CAT). Take the final GMAT prep CAT two days before the actual exam to get an accurate estimate of how you are likely to perform.
Guidelines:
Do not pay much attention to timing during the first 2 months. Use this time to concentrate on understanding each of the tested topics and strategies employed to answer questions.
During month 3 take 1 – 2 tests per week; try and complete each test on the weekends when excess time is available. Ensure that you time yourself for each test.
