Hi,
I have been quite infrequent on this forum. Wish I had found this earlier.
My score breakup is:
Q - 48 (86%)
V - 38 (85%)
Total - 700 (93%)
Test Experience:
Unfortunately I couldn't get much sleep the previous night. Had just 3 hrs of sleep and had to get ready for the test. I was yawning so much while filling out the pre-requisite forms. Believe me, a good night's sleep is really very important before the test.
AWA - To start off, the AWA was fairly simple and I had 5 minutes to spare after both essays.
Break - Went out, drank some water and came back. Put on the ear plugs as some candidates were still furiously typing.
Quant - The questions were fairly simple and I began to wonder if I were making too many mistakes. By the 6-7th question I was double checking each answer and got pretty nervous. After seeing a few tough questions later I calmed down
.The rest of the quant section was OK. I had a tendency to mull over difficult questions during my prep tests, so this time I made sure I don't spend more than 2-3 minutes for a tough question. I guessed and moved on. I finished the section with 2 minutes to spare.
Verbal - Typical
OG style questions. Finished it with 5 minutes to spare.
Was happy to see a 7XX in my final score though I was expecting more.
Prep tests scores:
PowerPrep1 - 680 (Before
OG)
PowerPrep2 - 740 (After 2 weeks of study)
PR - 690 (After 2.5 weeks)
Kaplan1 - 550 (After 3 weeks )
Kaplan2 - 600 (2 days after Kaplan1)
GMATPrep1 - 680
GMATPrep2 - 740 (3 days before GMAt)
I didn't find Kaplan very useful especially the Verbal section. I used
OG 11 for SC. The explanations are pretty good there. I found GMATPrep to be slightly more difficult than PowerPrep.
My suggestions:
1) Master
OG
2) If you have problems with timing, take smaller tests of 30 min each to ensure uniform pace. During prep tests, I ran out of time almost always in Quants section. I then took 5-6 mini tests of 30 minutes/ 15 questions each to improve my timing. Was pretty useful.
2) Very imp - Get plenty of rest before the actual test
All the best to prospective test takers.
