Hi GMAT Club members (and non members who are reading this)
This is my first post here. Before I go into the details, I will give an idea of my specifics (not sure if my profile shows these or not).
I am usually a very meticulous planner and implementer, so I got my OG13 (and pre-ordered OG15 at Amazon).
Even before I touched the book, to evaluate when I can take my GMAT, I did the GMATPrepTest 1. I did
NOT skip any part of the test, and sat through it without any break. This was after a 8 hour work day and a 2-3 hour drive for other stuff, so I was beat by the time I finished it. Not the best effort, but hey, that's why we have "prep" tests. Not surprisingly, I ended up with a subpar 420. and I think the split was Q24, V27.
No big deal (at least right now).
Based on the above, my plan is to take GMAT in early 2015. (Jan/Feb/Mar)
My weaknesses:
- every topic in the GMAT, it looks like.
My strengths:
- Have time on my side
I have downloaded the error logs, ordered the math book (Jeff) and have a copy of last year's
Manhattan GMAT's 8 books. With my 8-9 hours of work day and running family errands, I think these are sufficient and my timelines planned - but please provide your inputs.
I am not planning on taking another practice test until at least December 2014, since I don't think it is worth doing a practice test if my basics (and hence my confidence) aren't strong enough. Although I majored both my Bachelors (India) and Masters (US) in Engineering, it is worth noting that we don't all work at jobs where we do x^2 + y^-3 = \sqrt{z} everyday.
Do you think I should follow a specific plan / timeline each month for Quants and Verbal? Or should it be mix both in equal amounts in all months?
Any suggestions for optimal planning for the best outcome (750+) are welcome.
