Just as the title says, I was wondering, is it necessary to study vocabulary words for the GMAT? I've heard mixed opinions on this so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

GMAC did a study about this and they found that if you are a native speaker, then value of studying words is absolutely zero. If you are a non-native speaker, make sure you are on a comfortable level with all of the terminology used on the test (math section and question text).
