Hi everyone, I started preparing for the GMAT Classic version in September 2023. Score 590. Target is 740+. Decided against taking the Focus version initially because I thought I would be able to wrap up preparing for the classic version by Jan 2024. However, it seems unlikely that I will be able to take the exam this month since I haven't been able to complete my prep (started a new role in banking in late 2023 hence there have been weeks when I wasn't able to study consistently + the demanding hours of the role).
This is why I realised it may be better if I switch to Focus and take the exam early March. My target is to apply for grad school (MSc Finance/Econ programs mainly) later this year for Fall 2025 entry. Hence, I want to get the GMAT out of the way. I want to score at least 740 on the GMAT since my CGPA / grades aren't great (graduated with a 3.29 GPA in Economics).
I took the Focus edition mock today and was pretty disappointed in myself. Score 425. Worth mentioning that I ran out of time on all 3 sections and skipped around 5 to 6 questions at the end. My dream of getting a 700+ seems all the more challenging given my baseline.
I have been using TTP to prepare (currently at 21% completion). I find it great - I just wish I knew how to better manage my time and prepare, given I have a demanding full-time job. I watched some videos on YouTube. One of the things I am going to try is to put in the study hours for GMAT before I start my work day. I can carve out at most 2 hours on weekdays and 4 to 6 hours on weekends.
Any advice on an action plan I could follow to ramp up my score 700+ in the next 2 months? Any advice / inspiration is appreciated. Am I thinking unrealistically about going from 425 to 700+ on the GMAT Focus? If you know of any success stories, please do share. Many thanks.
