Hello.

Here are some facts about me. Mainly looking for recommendations on where to apply and whether to retake the gmat again. Goal is MIT or Tuck... that would be incredible. I can speak a lot more about myself than described below...

Demographic:
White, Male, right now 23. Will be 26-27 during application. Born in Russia, High School in England, College in USA. Bentley University. 3.50 GPA in Econ-Finance

College activities:
Rugby team (conference champs and national championship contenders)
Eco-Fi Society (discussing macro economic policy of the US mostly)
Investment Group (helping manage $250k of Bentley's endowment)

GMAT
As of today 710 Q48 V40. Debating retaking (had 760/750 in practice).

WE
Right now 2 year of full time WE. At the time of application will be 5 or 6 years.

I am employed at a F250 company (think big insurance/fin services (very famous signature...)). I am in a highly selective business analyst rotational program.
This is a 3 year program with 12 months rotations.
I started in Data Governance and Record Management. Essentially overseeing all of the data that my company produces and preparing executive dashboard on it + doing vendor management. I can make this a pretty work experience on paper.
Year 2 was in Robotic Process Automation group. Essentially replacing people with software. We have a lot of impressive stats. We have been instrumental in curbing expense growth at our division.
Year 3 is on the same team as Year 2 but in the emerging technologies group. At a very high level I am responsible for identifying companies that will allow my company to achieve higher straight through processing via AI/ML/Optical Character Recognition/Chat bots/anything else. I provide important recommendations to senior leadership. Constantly act as a point of contact with multiple CEO's of small - medium size Tech Companies.

Going forward I expect my role to be tightly aligned around strategic new tech initiatives for the whole division.

Extra curricular
Founded an employee resource group that mobilizes young professionals to be the next generation of leaders at my company (I am the Co-Chair and Founder). The group helps engage young employees to become better leaders via volunteering, education, and networking channels.
Internal Innovation Challenge Finalist (twice) + Winner (once + next final is next week so maybe twice). Done at work. Can talk more about results of my innovation pitches.
Boston Marathon finisher (raising almost 3k for charity).
Various work awards (basically for doing more than asked).
Doing pro-bono consulting for charities, mainly tech (for example salesforce integration for an NGO)

What schools can I target?

Appreciate advice and will respond to all of the PMs! :)

My goal is to go to either a strong MBA program with focus on entrepreneurship (runs in the family) or do management consulting after an MBA.

Thanks for reaching out! First off, I'd definitely work on improving your GMAT, especially if you were scoring 750/760 in practice tests. A 710 is a solid score but definitely not one that's going to differentiate you, and it's on the low end for schools like MIT & Tuck.

I'd also consider applying sooner. Schools are generally looking for candidates who have 3-5 years of experience upon entrance, so if you wait until you already have 5-6 years of experience to apply you're going to be on the older end, which can be a challenge.

Your work experience sounds strong -- you'll just want to be sure to show the specific accomplishments that YOU have driven (e.g. have you led initiatives that have increased revenue, decreased costs, etc). It sounds like those are there - but you'll want to be sure to highlight YOUR specific role since that will also give the adcom a sense for what you can uniquely contribute in c lass discussions. It can be tough to show direct impact when you're building dashboards so I'd focus on your more recent experiences in your essays.

You'll also want to continue to refine your goals, since your argument for why you need the MBA rests on those. Entrepreneurship can work, but it's one of the more challenging post-MBA goals since you need to be able to speak to your business idea, what problem you plan to solve or what unmet need you plan to fill, how you'll differentiate yourself, how you'll compete with larger/more resourced firms that may also be going after this same idea, etc. Consulting can also work, but it's a fairly common goal so it will be harder to differentiate yourself there. That's not to say it's impossible, but you'll need to do some thinking about WHY consulting & again some of those same questions that you'd need to tackle if you go the entrepreneurship route: what problems do you want to help clients solve, what opportunities do you want to tackle, etc. Ultimately the adcom wants alumni who are going to go on to have big impact and they want to see your vision for how you plan to do that. THEN you can make an argument for why you need the MBA to get there.

Assuming you can get your GMAT to a 750/760 you definitely have a good shot at M7. With the current 710 I'd aim for top 20 schools.

If you'd like help thinking through your goals definitely reach out to us & Claudia can get you set up with a free consultation with one of our MBA consultants. You can reach her at Claudia@admissionado.com
