Dear All,
I am applying to master programs in Europe. I have been wondering if a candidate could be perceived unfavorably due to their application for a need-based scholarship, as it could likely imply resignation due to lack of funding.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Best,
Interesting question. I will let @
MBAandBeyond and other experts provide their expert opinions but in my view, the strength of your profile determines the chances of admission, not the request for a scholarship. This is because need-based scholarships are created for the very candidates who have outstanding profiles but might otherwise choose other schools or more affordable options if not given scholarships. So your profile is the catalyst in the admissions process, not the request for a need-based scholarship (I think). Hi
Narenn , hope all is well! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to answer this!
Ixens ! Not really, as per what we have observed.
Overall cost of MBA is funded with:
- Personal Savings
- Contribution by Friends and Family
- Financial Aid (Scholarship + Loan)
Increasing Scholarship, means lesser loan. So if you don't get any scholarship does not mean that admit will not be extended to you. Because you can fill that in by loan.
I personally took 100% tuition loan.
And treat scholarship as an investment on you. What would you give in return. Instead of pleading, tone should be "I am going to ride this wave, would you want to come along? because I am worth investing."
Cheers!
