I have been preparing for more than 8 months now for GMAT but have not improving much in Quants. Feel like giving up now seeing my circumstances.
2010- Graduated from Symbiosis
2013- Did my MBA from Pune University affiliated college.
2016- Started realising that my 1st MBA did not help much in terms of learning or career progression. Started preparing for GMAT to get into ISB
2017- Was kicked out of Job due to demonetization in India. Took it into positive way, that it has given me time to study. Prepared full time but have not been improving in Quants. Verbal I have been scoring good but when it comes to IR and Quants the scores is less than 30!
Currently, I do not have a Job, have family responsibility and I have lost hopes of getting good score in GMAT and get into ISB.
My Education Background
BBA from Symbiosis in Marketing, MBA from Pune University in Marketing. 4+ work experience in Sales
Please help/ quide as to how do I take my preparation forward. My GMAT Test Date 1 April 2017.
Hi Nishant
We understand that this is not a great situation to be in; here are our inputs:
- Having a job will be important at the time you apply. Try and get back into one as soon as you can. Do not let your efforts of finding a new job slow down because you are also studying for the GMAT.
- You will need to push your GMAT date further as there will not be enough time for you to raise your score till Apr 1. Postpone by at least 2 months, if not 3.
- In terms of your prep, it is clear that Quant/Math is your weak area. Start with strengthening your concepts there first. It will take time but a step by step approach is important. At the same time, ensure that your verbal does not slip. If needed, take GMAT classes, but create a plan and stick to it.
- Do note that having an MBA already will not hurt your chances at ISB.
Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.
