KUDOS
Hey guys,

First let me give you my scores.

MGMAT 1 640
MGMAT 2 690
MGMAT 3 680

GMAT Taken 6/8/08 --> 650

after test and after a short period of studying :

MGMAT 4 760
MGMAT 5 730
MGMAT 6 730

After the reset :

MGMAT 1A 730
MGMAT 2A 730
MGMAT 3A 780

KAPLAN CATS :

CAT 1 730
CAT 2 720
CAT 3 670 (Dont know what happened. verbal was unbelievably bad)
CAT 4 760
CAT 5 720

I will not post my GMATPrep scores because they do not reflect the real thing (because I've taken them many many times)

Now lets get to the point :

No matter what I try, I usually spend too much time on especially CR and RC questions. I average CR questions to : 2-2.5 minutes. But If I spend that much of time I'm generally good at that and I think I can get a good correct rate. SC is really good.

When it comes to RC, I may be the slowest test taker ever. I almost read every sentence twice, and try to take notes meanwhile. And this really started to get boring. My RC rate is almost always between 30% - 70%.

I will be taking exam on 25/9, and because of the above mentioned RC questions problem, I now consider whether to apply a new method concerning RC questions. Here is my prospective method :

I will take the first RC passage seriously because it will probably show up in the first 10 questions. but in the latter RC Passages I'm planning either to read only the first and last sentences of the passages and try to give an answer according to, or to totally make a guess without even reading. But all my guesses will be the same answer choice to increase my chances. (for example I will pick "C" for all 4 questions). Well, I know It sounds too illogical to do that, but with this, I will be able to spend more time on a CR question.

The problem is whether I can have a 700+ score with this method.

Thanks!

Don't guess, but if you must, eliminate a few choices first.

Do as many practice RC questions as you can from now until test day! This is what I am doing with SC, my weakness.

You have a high variance in your scores, and many above 700. Don't think about it too much, just go take it again. You'll do fine.

yes michael127 the high variance is what bothers me. I hate studying RC but I guess I will have to.

Any other suggestions for how I can speed up ?

I would suggest not to guess a series of questions as it may seriously affect your score especially during the earlier part of the verbal section. Rather you can practice a bit (or follow a strategy, there is one document in this forum regarding improving your RC ) and try to increase your score.
From your MGMAT score I can say that you will hit 700 mark as the MGMAT tests are accurate indicator of GMAT test next to GMATprep (may be +/- 50).
